A Contact Form Is Not Intake
Why a generic form collapses qualification, routing, and booking into one broken step.
A contact form collects fields. Intake qualifies, routes, and creates a next action. When a business treats a generic form as intake, three jobs collapse into one broken step.
What a form does
- Collects name, email, and a message.
- Sends everything to one inbox.
- Ends the path at submission.
What intake should do
- Qualify whether the inquiry is a fit and how urgent it is.
- Route it to the right person or queue with context.
- Create a clear next action, including a booking step where appropriate.
A single form cannot do all of this for every audience. When prospects, existing clients, referrals, and administrative requests all hit the same form, the business has to sort it all out manually afterward. That sorting is where inquiries get lost.
